11. Why is the tracker’s location not accurate?

The tracker uses mainly GPS and Wi-Fi technology to identify its position, which means the location can only be detected in areas with sufficient coverage. If the bike is situated indoors, GPS location cannot be used – therefore the location accuracy will always be lower.

The tracker uses mainly GPS and Wi-Fi technology to identify its position, which means the location can only be detected in areas with sufficient coverage. If you’re receiving an error message stating that your bike’s location cannot be updated, please shut down the app and retry.

13. How do the cycling auto activation and brake light work?

The V-Bike Smart has a built-in accelerometer, which detects when the bike is moving and triggers the light to turn on.
The accelerometer recognises when movement stops and turns the light off. It also detects quick decelerations, making the light temporarily brighter to alert other road users that the cyclist is slowing down (just like a brake light).

Please note: The accelerometer and brake light are not connected to the bike’s mechanical brake and are purely based on deceleration detection only.
The brake light will only work in cases of rapid deceleration. As a result, it may emit when riding on uneven roads or paths and when the slope of the road is changing.

14. How does the Impact Detection feature work?

V-Bike Smart has a built-in accelerometer, which detects most falls that involve a strong impact followed by a motionless state for 5 seconds. If movement is detected during this period, the automatic impact detection alert will not be triggered.

Impact Detection’s default setting is ‘off’. To activate the feature, at least one emergency contact must be set.

When Impact Detection is ‘on’, your V-Bike Smart will go into emergency mode and in the event of impact will send an SMS to your pre-set contacts (up to 5 contacts) after the pre-set time (default setting is 2 minutes).

15. Why isn’t my DOTS.bike app working properly?

• Make sure your smartphone has Bluetooth activated and a working data connection
• If it does, perform a force close on the app

(Android: open your device’s settings, scroll down and tap apps, choose DOTS.bike and app to force to quit. iPhone X or later: from the home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen so that all of your most-recently used apps show in a carousel, swipe up on the DOTS.bike app preview to close it.
iPhone 8 or earlier: double-click the home button to show your most-recently used apps in a carousel, swipe up on the DOTS.bike app preview to close it.)

• Re-open the DOTS.bike app
• If this doesn’t work, try uninstalling and re-installing the app
16. Why is the data shown in the DOTS.bike app not up to date?

The DOTS.bike app will refresh data every 3-4 minutes, so you might need to wait a few minutes for it to update. If data is still not up to date:

• Make sure that the V-Sim is ‘active’ in V by Vodafone App. If ‘inactive’, please activate it by following the instructions
• Double check that the Bluetooth on your Smartphone is on and then try again
